The Student Academy of Audiology raised more than $6,800 for the American Academy of Audiology Foundations student programs during the 2011-2012 academic year. In recognition of your generous contributions and participation in the SAA Programs Survey, the SAA and the Foundation will partner to offer more student scholarships and grants than ever before. This year, in addition to doubling the number of $250 Special Olympics Healthy Hearing chapter grants, two new funding opportunities will be available:
-
SAA Individual Student Scholarship: presented to an outstanding SAA member who exhibits exemplary leadership in SAA at the local and/or national level.
-
SAA Chapter Grants: awarded to SAA chapters for development and implementation of educational, public outreach, humanitarian or other noteworthy programs.
Information about these new programs will be available in the coming months, so stay in touch with your chapters Regional SAA Representative and check the
SAA Web site often to find out how you and your chapter can apply for these awards.
In order to sustain these new grants and scholarship opportunities the Fundraising Committee will be asking for your help throughout the year. You can contribute in a variety of ways, starting with National Philanthropy Day on November 15. Or, if you prefer to party for the cause, Cheers for Ears is going down in Anaheim on Wednesday, April 3, 2013. Last year, the benefit sold out before AudiologyNOW!, so be sure to purchase your tickets on November 1, 2012, when you register for your student volunteer position. Also, did you know that all bids on items donated by students to the
Auction 4 Audiology at AudiologyNOW! are used for student programs such as the SOHH chapter grants?
As always, the Fundraising Committee wants to hear about your SAA chapters goals for the year. Want to share your ideas, questions, or suggestions? Please contact
