NEW! Northwestern University Chapter

A group of our students recently formed a chapter of the SAA at Northwestern University, and we couldn’t be more excited about our future. We have 28 members representing us from 4 different countries and 11 different states.

One of the primary goals of our new chapter is to increase our involvement in both the immediate community of Evanston/Chicago as well as in the broader community of hearing professionals. Since beginning our chapter, our students have participated in a variety of community outreach activities, including conducting hearing screenings at a health fair in conjunction with students from the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, volunteering at Sound Experience, an event at Children’s Memorial Hospital for parents and guardians of children with hearing loss, working with Northwestern audiologists to provide free audiologic services for underprivileged patients at a tri-annual Community Health Clinic, and participating in the Hearing Loss Association of America’s annual Walk4Hearing. We also have several students currently working to organize a humanitarian mission abroad for future members of the Northwestern University SAA.

In addition to community outreach activities, we have had the pleasure of hosting several hearing professionals from the Chicago area as guest speakers, fundraising for our chapter, and participating in SAA-organized social events. Feel free to check out our blog. We are excited to be a part of the SAA!
