The Academy previously submitted comments to the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) with recommendations on its proposed revision of the FRA hearing conservation standard. On October 27, 2006 the FRA published "Occupational Noise Exposure for Railroad Operating Employees; Final Rule" in the Federal Register re: 49 CFR Parts 227 and 229 (Volume 71, number 208, pages 63065-63138).  Click here to link to the Academy's comments and to the FRA's Final Rule.
