Academy Files Comments in Support of Telehealth at the Department of Veterans Affairs
On Tuesday, October 31, the Academy submitted comments to theDepartment of Veterans Affairs (VA) on a rulemaking proposed that would standardize the delivery of care by VA health care providers through telehealth. The Academy strongly supports this proposed rule which will allow for all VA health care providers, including the approximately 1,300 audiologists employed by the VA, to provide care to telehealth, regardless of where the provider or beneficiary is located.
The Academy remains fully engaged in expanding opportunities for audiologists to provide care to their patients via telehealth. Just recently, the Academy officially endorsed H.R. 2550, the Medicare Telehealth Parity Act, legislation that would identify audiologists as appropriate providers of telehealth services and authorize Medicare to reimburse them for providing patients with audiology services via telehealth.
