Meet with Your Member of Congress in Their District Office
During the month of August, members of Congress head back to their home states to meet with constituents, host events and town hall meetings, and address the needs of their district. August “recess,” as its most commonly known, is one of the best times of year to get the attention of your legislators, as they are frequently looking for feedback from those within their district. Below you’ll find tips for different ways you can get involved and advocate for audiology!
Want help arranging a meeting with your representative? Academy staff is happy to assist. Contact Stephen Congdon to inquire about setting up a time to meet with your member of Congress in his or her local office before Congress returns in September. Or if you’re planning a trip to the Washington, DC area, Stephen can assist in arranging a meeting with your representatives or their staff in our Nation’s Capital.
Be sure to visit the Key Contacts page of the Academy’s Web site for information about our Key Contacts initiative, information on conducting a successful visit with your representative and many other useful tools for advocating for audiology issues with your member of Congress.
