Meet with Your Representative
Members of Congress very much enjoy meeting their constituents and listening to their concerns. August Recess, while most lawmakers have left Capitol Hill and are back in their home districts, can be a great time to conduct these meetings. Contact your representative and ask to talk with them about direct access and why the issue is so important to the Profession. Consider bringing a patient or colleague from your district. To locate your member of Congress and to send a letter of support for H.R. 3024, the Medicare Hearing Health Care Enhancement Act, visit the Academy's Legislative Action Center. It can also be helpful to bring a short summary of the legislation, such as the Academy's Direct Access Issue Brief (PDF) to leave with the representative so that they have materials to reference following the meeting.
You may also consider becoming a key contact for the Profession. Key contacts are the "go-to" constituents that represent the voice of audiology in Congressional districts.Click here to learn more.
