SUMMARY:Late Onset Hearing Loss Awareness Week
DESCRIPTION:Passing a newborn hearing screening does not guarantee that a child will not develop hearing loss later. Late onset hearing loss occurs after birth and can go unnoticed for months or even years\, potentially affecting speech\, language\, learning\, and social and emotional development. \nEstablished in 2021 by the Olive Osmond Hearing Fund(opens in new tab)\, Late Onset Hearing Loss Awareness Week shines a spotlight on children who may have passed their newborn hearing screening but develop hearing loss later in early childhood. The annual campaign encourages families\, caregivers\, educators\, healthcare professionals\, and others to recognize potential signs and take action when concerns arise. \nTake Notice\, Take Action. Ongoing hearing health monitoring and timely evaluation can help ensure children with hearing loss are identified and connected with appropriate care and resources as early as possible. \nLearn more about Late Onset Hearing Loss Awareness Week and access social media(opens in new tab) resources by clicking the link below. \nLearn More
