In Memoriam: Dr. William F. House
It is with great sadness and deep respect that we announce the passing of a great neurotologist, Dr. William F. House.
He passed peacefully in his home December 7, 2012. Dr. House will be remembered as one of the kindest, most gifted and most innovative people of all time. In 2011, the American Academy of Audiology’s Web Content Editor (Douglas L. Beck) visited “Dr. Bill” at his residence in Oregon. That interview can be reviewed here.
Dr. Beck reflected, “It is with great sadness that I acknowledge the passing of my dear friend, Dr. William F. House. Dr. Bill was undoubtedly among the most extraordinary human beings. His contributions to medicine, science, surgery, cochlear implants and indeed to his friends and family were almost unimaginable. His passion, curiosity, care, and concern have impacted the lives of thousands of patients directly through his skilled hands, and tens of thousands more, through the knowledge that passed though him. Dr. Bill was a dear friend, a beloved mentor to many of us, and he will be greatly missed. May his memory always be a blessing.”
