Palmetto GBA Updates LCD on Vestibular Function Testing to Include ICD-10 Codes for Conductive and Mixed Hearing Loss
In late January 2017, the Academy’s Coding and Reimbursement Committee (CRC) submitted a letter to the Medicare contractor Palmetto GBA to request the addition of certain ICD-10 codes to their LCD for Vestibular Function Testing (L34537). The CRC asked Palmetto GBA to consider including additional ICD-10 codes that support medical necessity for the audiology services being billed, specifically those codes that describe conductive hearing loss (H90.0, H90.11, H90.12, H90.A11, and H90.A12) and mixed hearing loss (H90.71 and H90.72). On April 13, the Academy received correspondence from Palmetto GBA indicating that they reviewed our reconsideration request and would be adding ICD-10 codes H90.0, H90.11, H90.12, H90.A11, H90.A12, H90.71 and H90.72 to their LCD for Vestibular Function Testing.
