The text, Counseling-Infused Audiologic Care, has been written for students studying audiology within academic programs and for practicing audiologists seeking further exposure to the counseling intricacies of the profession through a continuing education vehicle. Use of this text for self-study is designed (1) to provide a vehicle for acquiring new or expanded knowledge in patient and parent counseling within audiologic practice, and (2) to advance the quality of patient care in audiology. You are able to earn AAA Tier CEUs for self-study by registering for the online CEU program.

Counseling-Infused Audiologic Care Online CEU Program: To register for the CEU Program, please visit the course page at this link here. You will be asked to enter your e-mail address. If you are not a current member of the Academy, you will be required to join the CE Registry fee ($60). The chapters and appendices are grouped into five modules totaling 7.5 hours or 0.75 CEUs.
Counseling-Infused Audiologic Care CEU Modules
Module 1: Patient Counseling - Chapters 1, 3, 4 and the Afterword (.2 CEUs)
Module 2: Confronting Hearing Loss - Chapters 2, 5, 9 and 11 (.2 CEUs)
Module 3: The Pediatric Caseload - Chapters 6 and 7 (.1 CEUs)
Module 4: The Adult Caseload - Chapters 8 and 10 (.1 CEUs)
Module 5: Communication Management - Chapters 12, 13, and 14 (.15 CEUs)
Note: In order to receive CEU credit, you are required to:
- Submit a Learner Assessment
- Achieve a score of 80% or better
Registration for the CEU program includes access to all 5 module online assessments. Modules are worth 0.1 to 0.2 CEUs and may be taken together or individually. A certificate documenting CEUs earned will be available for immediate download upon successfully achieving a score of 80% or better on each assessment.
The Counseling-Infused Audiologic Care CEU Program can be used to meet ABA Tier 1 recertification requirements. To earn Tier 1 CEUs a minimum of three hours need to be submitted during the ABA certificant's three-year cycle.
The American Academy of Audiology has approved offering Academy CEUs for this activity. This program is worth a maximum of 0.75 CEUs. Academy approval of this continuing education activity is based on course content only and does not imply endorsement of course content, specific products, or clinical procedure, or adherence of the event to the Academy's Code of Ethics. Any views that are presented are those of the presenter/CE Provider and not necessarily of the American Academy of Audiology. This continuing education activity adheres to the guidelines for ABA Tier 1 continuing education credits as outlined by the American Board of Audiology.
