AUDIOLOGY ADVOCATE | Congressional Advocacy 101: How to Educate Your Lawmaker

For 15 years, I have walked the halls of Congress. I did not take a class or even receive any helpful tips before embarking on this endeavor, but over time, I acquired valuable experience on the protocol and inner workings of Congress.

AUDIOLOGY ADVOCATE | Building Grassroots Advocates at AAA 2020 + HearTECH Expo

An integral component of successful advocacy in an association is the strength of the grassroots network. Staff can lay the groundwork and make the necessary connections with legislative and regulatory offices; however, what can be most impactful is the messaging of many individual members. Members of Congress want to hear directly from their constituents on an issue.

AUDIOLOGY ADVOCATE | Academy PAC Goes Local in 2018

The Academy’s Political Action Committee (PAC) plays a key role in supporting federal advocacy initiatives. 

In 2017, the Academy was able to make contributions to congressional champions such as Sen. Dean Heller (R-NV), Rep. Dave Loebsack (D-IA), Rep. David McKinley (R-WV), and Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA), among others, at fundraising events in Washington, D.C.
