Virginia Ramachandran, AuD, PhD

Virginia Ramachandran, AuD, PhD, is an educational and training specialist at Oticon, Inc. She also serves as an adjunct instructor at Wayne State University and Western Michigan University where she teaches courses in amplification.

Dr. Ramachandran began her career in the field of social work. After changing course to audiology, she became a senior staff audiologist and the research coordinator for the Division of Audiology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, as well as the clinical educational coordinator for the AuD program at Wayne State University.

Dr. Ramachandran is a past president of the Michigan Academy of Audiology and has served on the Board of Directors of the Accreditation Commission for Audiology Education. She also has served the American Academy of Audiology in many roles, including as a member-at-large on the Board of Directors.

Her clinical and research interests have been diverse, but she has a particular interest in student and professional issues. She has conducted numerous state, national, and international presentations and has authored many articles, books, and book chapters. She has served as an ad hoc editor for several academic journals and serves on the editorial board of Plural Publishing, Inc.

Dr. Ramachandran received her BSW, MSW, AuD, and PhD from Wayne State University. She received a certificate in Instructional Systems Development from University of Maryland – Baltimore County. She is currently completing her certificate program in Animal Audiology at the University of Northern Colorado. She is a Certificate Holder – Audiology Preceptor from the American Board of Audiology.
