The American Academy of Audiology (the Academy) is dedicated to creating a safe, harassment-free, and respectful environment for all of its meeting attendees that encourages free expression and the exchange of ideas.

The Academy defines an attendee as “anyone who has registered for the conference in any capacity, including all speakers, exhibitors, contractors, volunteers, and guests.” All meeting attendees are required to meet the high standards of personal and professional conduct and uphold the policies and procedures set for this meeting. The Academy expects all attendees to abide by the code of conduct in all venues associated with AAA 2021 Virtual, this includes professional and social gatherings.

All attendees must respect commonsense rules for public behavior, common courtesy, personal interaction, and respect for private property. The Academy prohibits and will not tolerate any form of harassment or bullying at this event. This includes fellow attendees, Academy staff, or vendors.

Harassment is defined as unwanted and unwelcome attention or other conduct that creates an environment where a reasonable person would feel unwelcome, intimidated, excluded, or abused. Harassment based on gender, race, religion, national origin, age, marital status, personal appearance, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, family responsibilities, genetic information, disability, matriculation, political affiliation, and any other personal characteristic is strictly prohibited.

If any attendee experiences or witness’s harassment, he/she should contact Academy staff immediately by emailing the meetings and education manager. Be prepared to share the approximate time, date, and location the behavior occurred; name, description, and contact information of the participant; and names as well as descriptions and contact information of any witnesses.

Additionally, disruption within the exhibit hall, sessions, events, or chat boxes will not be tolerated. Attendees must comply with the moderator and the Academy staff.

Outside of the exhibit hall promotional materials, special offers, job offers, product announcements, or solicitation for services from attendees are not allowed within the AAA 2021 Virtual platform.

As a consequence, the Academy reserves the right to revoke registration without refund of any attendee who does not comply with the code of conduct.

It is our goal to ensure the safety of and enjoyment for all attendees and exhibitors at the show. We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to the Code of Conduct.

All registration cancellations and refund requests must be made in writing to no later than March 15, 2021. A refund of the full conference fee, less a 25 percent administrative fee, will be given for cancellations received on or before March 15, 2021. Cancellations will not be accepted after March 15, 2021; however, you can expect to receive access to an on-demand library of content post event (until May 16, 2021).

The Academy regrets that refunds will not be provided for no-shows. Substitutions of registrations will be permitted through April 2, 2021, by submitting a written request to Only one substitution is permitted per original registrant. Substitutions should have the same member classification so that the payment is an even exchange/transfer of payment. The individual submitting the substitution request is responsible for all financial obligations (any balance due) associated with that substitution.
