Hands-On Learning Labs at AAA 2025

  • AAA Convention

Tangible Tips to Improve Your Practice

Offered only on Wednesday, March 26, AAA 2025 learning labs are in-depth, interactive, and hands-on sessions on hot topic areas. Presented by leaders in audiology and/or associated professions, these morning sessions include take-home tips to help your practice thrive. Choose one of the learning labs below at an additional cost of just $100 to your conference registration. Space is limited, so be sure to secure your spot now!

All Access Pass: Updates in Music Audiology

Presented by Frank Wartinger, AuD

In this hands-on, ears-open session, we’ll explore the tools available for delivering effective hearing-health care to individuals who work with and around music. Bring your passion for both hearing health and music as you fine-tune your skills to care for this unique, at-risk population.

Cerumen Management Workshop: Navigating Your Way Out of a Sticky Situation

Presented by Sam Bittel, AuD

This two-part workshop will provide the foundation/knowledge needed to become competent in cerumen management. First, we’ll cover the anatomy/physiology of the ear canal, cerumen properties, technical aspects of removal, managing incidents, infection control, state regulations, and billing. Then, we’ll demonstrate removal techniques/equipment and end with hands-on experience.

Electric Acoustic Stimulation (EAS): Maximizing Acoustic Hearing Benefit in Combination with Cochlear Implants for Children and Adults

Presented by René Gifford, PhD

Hearing aids and cochlear implants offer significant benefits, yet bimodal and EAS/Hybrid configurations are underutilized. This lab will cover candidacy, programming, and evidence-based mapping for these technologies, with hands-on examples using advanced bionics, cochlear, and MED-EL systems.

Turning Points: Mastering Vestibular Rotational Assessment

Presented by Chris Zalewski, PhD

Rotational vestibular assessment provides valuable insights into peripheral and central vestibular function, but it can be complex to interpret. By exploring stimulus protocols, outcome measures, and diagnostic patterns, attendees will gain a deeper understanding of vestibular physiology and its responses to various stimuli.

Verification: Verifying Advanced Features for Patients Satisfaction

Presented by Lindsey Jorgensen, AuD, PhD

Supporting patients’ needs and concerns goes beyond our hearing evaluations and initial fittings. We’ll discuss the advanced features necessary to meet patients’ needs and how to verify that these features are working correctly.
