There’s no better way to make a difference at AAA 2025+HearTECH Expo, March 26-29, in New Orleans, Louisiana, than through AAA Conference Subcommittee volunteer opportunities.
Enhance educational content, set the standard for learning opportunities by inviting high-quality speakers, design a program that covers a broad cross-section of specialties, cultivate diversity and inclusion skills, and more.
These volunteer opportunities will help you grow and learn as a leader, network and connect with colleagues, provide an opportunity to give back, and help develop the education and thought leadership that will shape the experience of conference attendees and the future of audiology.
Here are some of the options below with the approximate time commitments…a short amount of your dedicated time and expertise can go a long way!
Subcommittees
- Featured Sessions Subcommittee (July-September)
- Learning Labs and Grand Rounds Subcommittee (July-October)
- Learning Modules and Mini Modules Subcommittee (October)
- Research, Clinical, and Teaching Posters Subcommittee (October)
- Research Podiums and Student Research Forum Subcommittee (November)
- SAA Programs Committee
Hear from Past AAA Conference Subcommittee Volunteers:
“As a new professional, volunteering for the AAA 2024 Program Subcommittees has been a great way for me to engage with the Academy and grow my professional network. Through these volunteer opportunities, I have had the opportunity to meet audiologists representing a diverse range of specialties, interests, and experiences, all focused on the same goal: ensuring our annual conference provides excellent educational content for all audiologists. In addition, volunteering for the program subcommittees has provided me with the unique opportunity to provide input on the types of educational content that is relevant to me as a new professional and pediatric audiologist, ensuring that the conference program each year is meaningful and useful to my clinical practice and overall professional growth. The time commitment required of the program subcommittees is small—typically only consisting of a few weeks of work, but the impact is significant, which is evident when you have the opportunity to attend the conference and experience the programming you assisted in creating in person. I highly recommend volunteering on the AAA 2025 Programs committee to all professionals looking for an opportunity to serve!”
-Sarah McAlexander, AuD
Learning Labs and Grand Rounds Subcommittee and Research, Clinical, and Teaching Posters Subcommittee

“Working as a volunteer for AAA 2024 was a fantastic experience that I would recommend to anyone looking to become more involved in the Academy! I helped volunteer for the Featured Sessions Subcommittee and Clinical, Teaching, and Research Posters Subcommittee. I also helped with the Clinical Education Forum that my own Academic Clinical Education and Resources (ACER) Committee puts on every year! Being a volunteer helped strengthen my professional goals to stay involved on a national level and make a difference in the programming content provided at the 2024 conference. There are many roles big and small and you can make it as big or as little as a time commitment as you wish!”
-Sarah Pupa Waggoner, AuD
Featured Sessions Subcommittee and Clinical, Teaching, and Research Posters Subcommittee

“I enjoyed participating on program subcommittee at AAA 2024+HearTECH Expo . The committee was helpful, patient, and gave realistic deadlines. The amount of time commitment was lower than I expected and the reward of seeing the submissions that I had reviewed at the conference gave me a sense of engagement. I am looking forward to applying to a subcommittee for the AAA 2025+HearTECH Expo.”
-Mary Henry, AuD
Learning Modules and Mini Modules Subcommittee

“This past year I volunteered on the SAA Programs Committee. In this role, I helped plan the SAA student conference and student focused sessions at the AAA 2024 conference. I contacted professionals to be potential speakers and answered their questions. It was amazing to be able to get to know other students from across the country and work with them to build wonderful student programming. I was able to engage in a collaborative environment while building more leadership skills. We meet once a month to discuss committee items and I work on my tasks in between monthly meetings (maximum 3 hours a month). I would absolutely recommend volunteering your time with the Academy or the Student Academy of Audiology (SAA) . I was able to network, gain more leadership experience, and learn more about our exciting field!”
