Where y’at? This common greeting in New Orleans isn’t asking for your location, it means how are you or what’s going on? As we look ahead to AAA 2025+HearTECH Expo in New Orleans, let’s look at where ABA is “at.”
First an important reminder, for those interested in certification in pediatric audiology PASC applications for the spring 2025 exam are being accepted through March 11, 2025. Next, the ABA is proud to announce the creation of a new certification. The Vestibular Audiology Specialty Certification (VASC) is in development with an initial beta exam to be offered this summer. This new specialty board certification option joins the existing board certifications in pediatric audiology (PASC) and cochlear implants (CISC). The new program is designed to challenge audiologists to practice at the top of their scope using best practice guidelines and evidence-based practices in vestibular audiology. Professional empowerment is the heart of the Academy, the goal of the ABA, and is absolutely where we’re “at.”
AAA 2025+HearTECH Expo is in New Orleans, Louisiana, March 26–29 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. This year’s conference has a new and expanded format with the opportunity to earn up to 3.25 CEUs. Debuting this year is a special track for audiology assistants, with six learning sessions and discounts to encourage attendance. Returning this year is the popular “Beyond the Booth” series, focusing on topics critical to professional growth and leadership development. In this years’ programming, featured sessions, grand rounds, and learning labs will be curated by specialty to make relevant topics and learning opportunities easier to find and add to your conference agenda. For ABA credential holders, there are over 50 Tier 1 sessions to help you meet your CE requirements. Finally, back by “pup-ular” demand, the Paws and Relax event will introduce you to some new furry friends while you stroll the Expo Hall.
This is my second trip to New Orleans, and I am excited to share the spectacular Big Easy with you. To welcome you, the ABA is hosting a meet and greet at 2 pm on Thursday, March 27, in the Expo Hall. Please stop by to say “where y’at,” sample a beignet, and learn more about the ABA and the new programs and benefits under way. New Orleans is a city steeped in history, mystery, and music, but after the events of New Years Eve, it’s also a city that needs our support and encouragement. I hope you’ll find time in your busy convention schedule to explore New Orleans, the local businesses, and the amazing people who make New Orleans where it’s “at!”
