Available Scholarships

The Foundation is committed to doctoral students as they continue their academic career learning exceptional clinical skills and exploring contemporary avenues of research that will advance the treatment of people with hearing and balance problems. Our scholarships are funded by corporate, industry, and individual donors who support hearing and balance wellness.

Applications will open Jan. 21, 2026. The deadline to apply to 2026 scholarships is Wednesday, April 30, 2026.

Policies and considerations

  • Students must be a national SAA member at the time of application and at the time of award to be eligible for AAA Foundation scholarships. Students can visit the national SAA website to learn how to become a member or renew membership.
  • Unless otherwise noted, individual student scholarships are open to any AuD, PhD, or AuD/PhD student in audiology who will be enrolled at a U.S. university when the funds are awarded. For the purpose of the 2026 application cycle, students must be an enrolled student for the Fall 2026 semester to be eligible and cannot graduate in Spring/Summer 2026.
  • Students are only eligible to receive one scholarship award per academic year (i.e., August through July annually), although they may apply for more than one scholarship.
  • Students are only eligible to receive a specific scholarship one time, although they are eligible to receive a different scholarship in subsequent years.
  • Specific scholarships may have additional criteria.

  • Personal Statement/Essay
  • CV/Resume
  • Recommendation Rubric completed by a qualified individual (clinical supervisor, professor, mentor/advisor, employer, etc.).

Amit Gosalia Scholarship in Private Practice Audiology

Dr. Amit Gosalia has graciously donated to the Foundation to award two students a $1,500 scholarship. Students who show exceptional promise as a clinical audiologist interested in pursuing a career in private practice as evidenced by the student’s resume, rubric, and personal statement are encouraged to apply. The American Academy of Audiology Foundation’s Empowering Students Scholarship of $5,000 will be awarded to four students who show exceptional promise as a clinical audiologist as evidenced by the student’s resume, rubric, and personal statement. This scholarship program is generously funded by Oticon Hearing Foundation. $20,000 in scholarship funds are available. Applicants cannot graduate in Spring/Summer 2026. Jerry Northern Scholarship in Pediatric Audiology

The Jerry Northern Scholarship in Pediatric Audiology is an opportunity for students interested in pediatric audiology. Dr. Jerry Northern has graciously donated to the Foundation to award three students with $10,000 each in scholarship funds and $500 each for travel expenses to AAA 2026+HearTECH Expo in San Antonio, Texas. Applicants must be in at least their second academic year in the graduate program and have completed at least one course in pediatric audiology, and cannot graduate in Spring/Summer 2026. Jill Botkin Hearing Health-Care Accessibility Scholarship

The AAA Foundation is excited to announce a new scholarship opportunity for audiology students. Named after Jill Botkin—a 35-year employee of HearUSA who passed away in 2023—this scholarship aims to support and empower future audiologists who are committed to enhancing access to hearing care services, especially in communities that lack geographical access to hearing care. One recipient will receive a $5,000 scholarship grant intended for educational support in their AuD program. Judith Blumsack Scholarship

On the occasion of her retirement from Auburn University in 2014, students, colleagues, friends, and family joined together with the AAA Foundation to honor Judith Blumsack, PhD, with a named scholarship. In addition to her long career as an audiology professor, mentor, and clinician, Dr. Blumsack is a former member of the Foundation Board of Trustees, making her scholarship an especially fitting tribute to an individual that has inspired and touched many over her 30-plus-year career. The Judith Blumsack Scholarship of $500 will be awarded to one student who demonstrates outstanding clinical skills and who shows promise in terms of clinical research and service to the professional community and/or the community at large as evidenced by the student’s resume, rubric, and personal statement. Applicants must be in at least their second academic year of their program when the scholarship is awarded and cannot graduate in Spring/Summer 2025. Sadanand Singh Memorial Scholarship

A respected university educator, scientist, publisher, and philanthropist, the audiology profession lost a great friend in 2010 with the passing of Dr. Sadanand Singh. Donations from Dr. Singh’s friends, family, and colleagues have enabled the establishment of a scholarship celebrating his dedication to research and the next generation of hearing scientists. The Sadanand Singh Memorial Scholarship of $500 will be awarded to one minority and/or international student who shows exceptional promise in audiology research as evidenced by his/her resume, rubric, and personal statement.
