  • ABA News

The ABA is pleased to announce the first class of Board Certified in Vestibular Audiology (BC-VA) audiologists! Fifteen of the twenty beta exam candidates passed their exams in August and have been awarded their BC-VA credential. A directory listing those newly Board Certified in Vestibular Audiology is on the ABA website. The new credential holders represent eleven US states and one hails from Istanbul, Turkey. The ABA will be determining the dates for the next VASC exam in 2026 in the coming weeks, but online applications may be submitted anytime.

ABA also recognizes and thanks these volunteers subject matter experts (SME) who were instrumental in the development of the new VASC examination and the successful administration of the August beta exam. The Development Task Force worked from December 2024 through June 2025 writing and reviewing test questions and then approved and validated the beta exam in July. The task force was ably chaired by Chizuko Tamki, AuD, PhD, and included these members: Samuel Bittel, AuD, Jamie Bogle, AuD, PhD, Patricia Gaffney, AuD, Annie Hogan, PhD, Kristen Janky, AuD, PhD, Violette Lavender, AuD, Devin McCaslin, PhD, Bre Myers, AuD, PhD, Erin Piker, AuD, PhD, Richard Roberts, PhD, Daniel Romero, AuD, PhD, Ashely Zaleski-King, AuD, PhD, and Chris Zalewski, PhD. Following the August exam administration, these members of the VASC Oversight Committee, chaired by Vienet Sharpe, AuD met in September to set item standards and recommend the cut score for the exam: Amy Ariss-Martin, AuD, Alaina Bassett, AuD, PhD, Karen C. Hendrick, AuD, Sandra Kase Ellis, AuD, Jessica Kreidler, AuD, Marshall N’Guessan, AuD, Meg Safko, MA, and Brady Workman, AuD. All of these volunteers have been invited to apply for the BC-VA credential without exam as a reward for their efforts.
