Certification verifies experience to prospective employers, provides consumers with a method of identifying audiologists with expertise in general audiology, and enhances your professional profile.
The Examination
Application Submission begins on July 1, 2026.
The American Board of Audiology ® (ABA) will certify general audiologists through a recognized set of standards.
The examination content domain are as follows:
- Physiologic Basis of Auditory Function and Hearing Disorders
- Assessment of Patients with Auditory Disorders
- Diagnosis of Patients with Auditory Disorders
- Treatment and Management of Patients with Auditory Disorders
- Additional Considerations in Diagnostic and Interventional Audiologic Care
- Professional and Practice Management Issues
The General Audiology Board Certification™ examination is offered online with remote proctoring annually through Prolydian—a leading credentialing platform—who serves as the ABA’s test administrator and proctoring service. Examinees are allowed 4 hours to complete the 225-question beta exam; 150 questions will be selected for standard setting and scoring.

- Online Beta Examination Window: November 6-16, 2026
GABC Certification Requirements
- Successful completion of examination.
- Continuing Education and recertification every three years.
GABC Application Requirements
Education / Experience
- A doctoral degree in audiology AND
- 5 years of employment as a licensed audiologist; OR
- 3 years as ABA Certified OR
- A master’s degree in audiology AND
- 7 years of employment as a licensed audiologist.
Currently working in audiology and providing clinical services.
Licensure
Current, valid license or international work authorization to practice audiology.

Payment of application and examination fees.
