In last quarter’s ABA newsletter, we were ‘springing’ into the spring season, and now here we are sweating it out in the summer season! Last newsletter had a call for submissions highlighting your contributions and service to your community for Better Hearing Month (May). Reflecting on all the ways in which we serve our patients and communities is such a great reminder of why we chose this career in the first place. Through all the difficult exams (looking at you students!), busy days seeing patients back to back, and mountains of paperwork that sometimes don’t seem to shrink, finding time to reflect on the real reason we chose audiology is incredibly important. I am happy to share some of the ways in which YOU served your community, and hope it brings you as much joy as it brought me!

Audiologist Dr. Ashlee Vandiver fits a hearing aid on an infant while on a mission trip to La Romana in the Dominican Republic in collaboration with the Portland, Maine Rotary.

Students from Cal State University in Los Angeles joined Burbank Audiology in completing video otoscopy on over 100 children at the Boys and Girls Club of the Greater Los Angeles Valley.
Dr. Mary Frintner and staff from Burbank Audiology Center prioritize community involvement throughout the year, collecting canned food to stock the pantry of a local nonprofit that serves victims of domestic violence (above). They also take part in the Listen through Literacy Program in collaboration with the local Kiwanis Club to provide books to children that come through their doors, as well as children at health fairs and other school events (below).
