Take Action Now: Protect Medicare Access by Supporting H.R. 879

  • Government Relations News

On January 1, a 2.83 percent reduction in Medicare payments went into effect, adding financial strain to physicians grappling with rising costs. Without Congressional intervention, these cuts—compounded by a 3.6 percent increase in practice expenses—could lead to an unsustainable 6.43 percent reduction.

To address this, H.R. 879, the Medicare Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act, has been introduced in Congress. This critical bill would restore 6.62 percent to the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule, fully reversing the harmful cuts and ensuring financial stability for health-care providers. Without this relief, providers may need to reduce services, limit Medicare patient intake, or even close their doors—jeopardizing access to care for millions of seniors and individuals with disabilities.

Your Voice Matters

H.R. 879 needs strong public support. Lawmakers must hear from patients and health-care providers about the impact of these cuts. Visit the Academy’s Legislative Action Center to send a message urging your Congressional Member to co-sponsor this crucial bill.
