What is your background in audiology?

My introduction to audiology began during my undergraduate studies when I enrolled in an introductory course—initially inspired by my grandparents, who were both d/Deaf and used American Sign Language to communicate. I was immediately drawn to the field, and its unique intersection of science, technology, creativity, and human connection.

I earned my AuD from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. I am currently an educational audiologist supporting multiple school districts in Wisconsin. Prior to this role, I gained clinical experience in both hospital and ENT clinic settings.

I am passionate about delivering compassionate, accessible hearing-health care, and take pride in collaborating with others to enhance the quality of life for students and patients. I also strongly believe in empowering individuals with hearing loss to advocate for their hearing health, rights, and access to communication.

Why do you volunteer with the Academy?

Serving on the Resume Review Committee is one meaningful way I give back to our profession. I’m deeply passionate about the field of audiology, and I view the opportunity to review cover letters, CVs, and resumes as a practical way to support and uplift fellow professionals—especially those entering or advancing in the field.

What is one thing that you can say volunteering has done for you and your personal success as an audiologist?

Volunteering on the Resume Review Committee has allowed me to connect with colleagues across the country and gain a deeper appreciation for the incredible work happening throughout our field. It’s broadened my perspective, strengthened my sense of professional community, and reinforced the importance of collaboration in advancing the audiology field.

If you could retire tomorrow, what would you do?

If I could retire tomorrow, I’d embrace the freedom to travel both throughout the United States and internationally with my husband, family, and friends. I’d love to explore new cultures, languages, and cuisines abroad, and experience the beauty and diversity of our world firsthand. Closer to home, I’d take the time to hike my way through as many national parks as possible.

If you could have any animal as a pet, what animal would you choose

I don’t think I could ask for a better pet than my dog, Norbert!
