What is your background in audiology?
Clinically, I work mostly with older adults doing audiometric evaluations and fitting hearing aids. I am a faculty member at Pacific University, where I teach courses in assessment and amplification. I also serve as the AuD program’s internship and externship coordinator for off-campus clinical rotations.
Why do you volunteer with the Academy?
I like to give back to the profession, and volunteering on committees is a great way to contribute to the Academy’s efforts to keep audiology moving forward.
What is one thing that you can say volunteering has done for you and your personal success as an audiologist?
I’ve gotten to know many successful audiologists through volunteering with the Academy, and seeing their accomplishments keeps me motivated and inspired to do more.
Who’s the most famous person you’ve ever met? Tell us a story of how you met.
I’ve had several patients who are famous—musicians, authors, politicians—but obviously I can’t name names.
What is your favorite music genre?
I’m open to almost anything but I like indie, alternative, alt-country, folk, and reggae. I listen to some fantastic public radio stations, which are great for discovering new music and beat an algorithm any day.
