On October 23, the Academy Board of Directors held a successful Hill Day in Washington, D.C. amid the federal government shutdown. The Academy is deeply grateful to the senators, representatives, and congressional staff from both sides of the aisle who took the time to meet and discuss key legislative priorities, including the Medicare Audiology Access Improvement Act (H.R. 2757 / S. 1996) and funding for Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) programs.
Despite the challenging circumstances, the board’s meetings were highly productive, with lawmakers expressing strong interest and support for the Academy’s priorities. The Academy extends particular appreciation to Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ) for his leadership in signing on as a co-sponsor of the Medicare Audiology Access Improvement Act following a meeting with Academy board members from Arizona.
The Academy remains committed to ensuring access to quality hearing and balance care for all Americans and appreciates the continued bipartisan engagement on these critical issues.
