The Academy Honors Task Force is excited to announce the opening of the 2027 nominations.

Do you have a friend or colleague who has been of exceptional service to the Academy and/or the profession who should be recognized and honored for their contributions? There are several categories available for nominations. Read about the categories and nominate someone who should be acknowledged for their work.

Award Categories

Excellence in Audiology Award

Honors an individual with over 10 years of experience who has achieved distinction in at least two of the following: clinical excellence, teaching/mentoring, research, service to the profession, or social media influence. Nominees must be Academy members and have completed their AuD and/or PhD.

James Jerger Career Award

This prestigious award honors an individual with over 20 years of experience who has made a lasting impact in one or more of the following: clinical excellence, teaching/mentoring, advocacy, research, humanitarian efforts, or service to the profession. Nominees must have a history of significant involvement with the Academy (e.g., volunteer service, advocacy, donations, and program development) and hold an AuD and/or PhD.

Marion Downs Pediatric Audiology Award

Awarded to an audiologist for outstanding contributions to pediatric audiology in roles such as educator, mentor, clinician, advocate, or scientist. Academy membership is not required.

Outstanding Early Career Award

Recognizes an individual with fewer than 10 years of experience who has made significant contributions in one of the following areas: clinical excellence, teaching/mentoring, research, service to the profession, and social media influence. Nominees must be Academy members and have completed their AuD and/or PhD within the 10-year timeframe.

Nomination Process

Outstanding Early Career, Excellence in Audiology, and Marion Downs Pediatric Audiology Awards: Nominators submit the nominee’s name, award category, and a statement of support (250 words or less). The Academy then contacts the nominee to request a CV and a brief statement (500 words or less) explaining why they believe they should receive the award.

James Jerger Career Award: Nominators submit the nominee’s name and a 250-word statement of support. The Academy then contacts the nominee to request a CV, a completed questionnaire, and two additional statements of support (500 words or less each).

Recognition

Award recipients will be recognized across Academy social media, the website, digital platforms, and in person at the AAA Annual Convention.
