Meagan P. Bachmann, AuD, MHL, CISC, CH-AP, is a nationally recognized audiology leader whose career has been defined by clinical excellence, strategic leadership, and steadfast commitment to elevating the profession. With nearly twenty years of experience across clinical care, administration, and national service, Dr. Bachmann brings a deep understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing audiology today—and a clear vision for its future.
Dr. Bachmann currently serves as Director of Audiology and Outpatient Speech Pathology at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, where she leads a team of more than 40 audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and support staff within the Head and Neck Service Line. In this role, she oversees strategic operations, financial stewardship, workforce development, and high reliability care across the service area. Her leadership has driven systemwide improvements in charge capture, documentation standards, and integrated workflows across a large academic–community health network.
As Director of Audiology for Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, she has guided three multispecialty audiology clinics and specialized programs in pediatrics, vestibular care, and implantable technology. Dr. Bachmann also oversees AuD extern training and the newborn hearing screening program for both Wellbaby and NICU populations.
Her national service record reflects a sustained dedication to the profession. Dr. Bachmann currently serves on the American Academy of Audiology Board of Directors and was named a Distinguished Fellow of the Academy in 2025. She has served in multiple leadership roles across AAA councils and committees, including chair of the American Board of Audiology and the Professional Education and Certificate Committee, and the Academic and Professional Standards Council. She is a past-president and founding member of the North Carolina Academy of Audiology and a frequent presenter on clinical quality, billing practices, cochlear implants, and professional wellbeing.
A published author and contributor to both scientific and professional literature, Dr. Bachmann brings a balanced perspective that bridges clinical practice and health system leadership. She holds a Doctor of Audiology degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a master’s in healthcare leadership from Wake Forest University, and a certificate in telehealth from the Wake Forest University School of Law.
With a proven record of collaboration, innovation, and commitment to the profession, Dr. Bachmann is honored to seek the role of president of the American Academy of Audiology and to help guide the Academy toward a strong and forward-looking future for all audiologists.
