Adam Mehlenbacher, AuD, DFAAA, is honored to serve his fellow veterans as an audiologist at the Durham VAHCS. He has been involved in a number of studies of brain injury at Duke as a consulting associate in the Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Mehlenbacher has served as the president of the North Carolina Audiology Association and chair of the Government Relations Committee for the American Academy of Audiology. He is the chair-elect of the Advocacy Council and a member of the Practice Policy Advisory Committee for the American Academy of Audiology. This past year he became a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. He served as the chair of North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists. Some areas of audiology that are of particular interest to him are vestibular and balance evaluation and treatment, multidisciplinary management of TBI, blast trauma, and professional issues in the field of audiology.
