What’s a project you’re working on right now? Why is it meaningful to you?

I’m currently working on a project for physician education about hearing loss. We have some aspects of it in place, but we’re entering a new phase to take it to a higher level.

How has your career benefited from being a member of the Academy?

Ongoing education and camaraderie.

Any tips or advice for new members on how to best leverage their Academy membership?

Interaction with other members is the best way to learn, through networking, communication, and continuing education.

Firefly—but everyone would be so old!

Reading Red Rising, by Pierce Brown, and listening to a lot of Mashups by Bill McClintock

Best vacation you’ve ever been on?

Ireland, 2019.

Who is your hero, and why?

My father, who established his private practice audiology clinic in 1982, in the timeframe where it was rebellious to do so.  He did it as a pioneer because he saw a lot of opportunity to help people — patients and other audiologists alike, the latter who followed in his footsteps and set up their own practices with a lot of advice from him.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

Discernment. To know when someone is lying, or to see the truth behind conflicts, what is correct, and to have the wisdom about how to deal with it.
