Short-term use of hearing aids resulted in significantly lower self-perceived listening difficulty, acceptance of higher speech and noise levels, higher fluid cognition performance, and increased autonomous motivation. Hearing aid use also enhanced neural inhibition of irrelevant sounds. Participants with higher hours of hearing aid use tended to show higher fluid cognition performance and autonomous motivation.
