The Academy joined with other hearing health-care stakeholders to urge Senate leadership to advance legislation to reauthorize the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Program (EHDI).

The House of Representatives passed H.R.5561 to reauthorize EHDI through 2026 and provides for an increase in funding for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)—one of the funding sources for the program.

The letter delivered to Senate lawmakers urges them to advance reauthorization legislation that would increase funding for both the CDC as well as the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)—that typically provides support for EHDI programs in individual states.
