A national survey of clinician practices to gather accurate data on practice costs and the hours of patient care that clinicians provide will begin later this month. Randomly selected audiologists will receive an email from Mathematica, the survey administrator, to participate in the clinician practice information (CPI) survey! The CPI survey is a partner survey to the physician practice information (PPI) survey run by the American Medical Association.
The intent of the effort, which has been endorsed by over 170 medical societies and other health-care associations, including American Academy of Audiology, is to collect updated and accurate data on practice costs, which are a key element of clinician payment. These data have not been updated since last collected over 15 years ago and it is critically important to update these data to ensure accurate payment.
The survey is focused on collecting financial information and should be completed by the person(s) at your practice who can best answer questions about finances and expenses. The time it takes to complete this survey will vary depending on the size and complexity of your practice.
Please be on the lookout in your mail later this month, and we thank you in advance for your participation if you are selected. Your participation in the survey is voluntary but important. The information you share will be kept private, reported in aggregate, and used only to inform the national estimates of practice expense per patient care hour.
If you should have any questions, please contact the Academy’s payment policy team at reimbursement@audiology.org.
