What do you/did you love the most about your job?
My passion for the art of effective communication and teaching this to others is at the heart of this journey. Helping my patients hear better and communicate more effectively with their families brings immense fulfillment and drives me to keep improving their quality of life. Serving as a professor and mentor to future health professionals is also very important to me, as I believe in the power of education and mentorship to shape the future of healthcare.
What company or organization do you work for right now? If you’re retired, where did you last work?
WS Audiology and Albizu University
What’s a project you’re working on right now? Why is it meaningful to you?
I’m excited to announce that I’m expanding my services by acquiring audiology licenses in other states. Recognizing the growing need for these services, I’m committed to making high-quality audiology care more accessible in both English and Spanish. Additionally, I’ll be pursuing a PhD in human services next semester to expand my knowledge and further enhance the support I provide to our communities and future health professionals.
How has your career benefited from being a member of the Academy?
Being a member of the American Academy of Audiology allows me to stay connected with our professional community and stay ahead in our field.
Any tips or advice for new members on how to best leverage their Academy membership?
As we say in Spanish, “En la unión está la fuerza”—”Together we are stronger.” Joining professional organizations allows us to expand our professional perspective beyond our clinic walls.
