What is your background in audiology?

I was very blessed to begin my career as an extern at Boys Town National Research Hospital, and I have been even luckier to remain on staff for the past 15 years! I get to work with pediatric and adult patients for their diagnostic evaluations and amplification needs, coordinate audiology services for our Pediatric Hearing Clinic, and coordinate our auditory osseointegrated device program.

Why do you volunteer with the Academy?

I love being an audiologist and feel like what we do is so special and vital to so many people. It is important to have an association and team of passionate individuals who support our profession like the Academy does. I feel that volunteering is just a small way I can show my support and appreciation to the Academy for all that they do for audiologists and our patients.

What is one thing that you can say volunteering has done for you and your personal success as an audiologist?

Volunteering for the Resume Review Committee has been a wonderful way to learn about the skills and experiences of the future fourth year externship students. This has helped me consider my supervising skills to see if there are areas of growth to ensure I am meeting the needs of future audiologists that may come through our program!

Beach, mountains, or city — where’s your ideal summer getaway?

Mountains! Although I grew up around and love lakes, so somewhere with both mountains and lakes would be perfect!

What’s your favorite summer treat (ice cream flavor, drink, etc.)?

A root beer float.
