What is your background in audiology?
My entire career has been rooted in pediatric audiology. I began at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital at the University of Michigan, where strong mentorship helped me build a solid foundation in pediatric diagnostics, amplification, and electrophysiology. Since joining Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago in 2016, I’ve continued to expand my clinical practice, including work in the inpatient setting. Most recently, I stepped into the role of Clinical Coordinator for Audiology, which has allowed me to blend clinical expertise with leadership and program development.
Why do you volunteer with the Academy?
Volunteering with the American Academy of Audiology has broadened my perspective on our profession. It’s given me the opportunity to connect with audiologists across a wide range of specialties, practice settings, and career stages. Hearing their stories and experiences has deepened my appreciation for how diverse and impactful our field truly is.
What is one thing that you can say volunteering has done for you and your personal success as an audiologist?
Through my volunteer work with the Academy, I was asked to serve as the Academy’s representative to the Joint Committee on Infant Hearing (JCIH), which has been both an incredible honor and one of my proudest professional achievements. Being part of such a dedicated and thoughtful group has been humbling and has reinforced the importance of collaboration, advocacy, and evidence-based practice in shaping the future of pediatric hearing care.
What’s your favorite sign that spring has officially arrived?
Hanging up my winter coat! In the Midwest, you often take your coat in and out of your closet through the unpredictable spring weather, but the extra sunlight makes everything feel lighter and more hopeful.
What’s your favorite outdoor activity when the weather warms up?
I love getting back into running outdoors, and I also really enjoy simply sitting outside with friends—being able to slow down and enjoy good company once the weather turns is one of my favorite parts of spring and summer.
