What is your background in audiology?

I have been a practicing clinical pediatric audiologist for 22 years and currently serve as the Senior Clinical Director of Audiology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. I have spent my entire career at Cincinnati Children’s, where I’ve had the privilege of working alongside a dedicated and highly skilled team committed to continually improving patient care. Additionally, I have collaborated with the University of Cincinnati and Drexel University, and I greatly value the opportunity to mentor and share my experiences with emerging audiologists. It is a profession I am deeply passionate about, and I cannot imagine pursuing any other career.

Why do you volunteer with the Academy?

I volunteer with the Academy because I strongly believe in contributing to the advancement of the audiology profession. It provides a meaningful opportunity to collaborate with colleagues, exchange knowledge, and help shape best practices within our field. Volunteering also allows me to stay engaged with emerging trends and initiatives that directly impact patient care. Most importantly, it is a way to give back to a profession that has given me so much. I had the privilege of participating in JFLAC in 2016, which further solidified my respect for the Academy’s work. Since then, I have remained actively involved at both the national and state levels to support and advocate for our profession.

What is one thing that you can say volunteering has done for you and your personal success as an audiologist?

Volunteering has significantly expanded my professional network, connecting me with leaders and peers across the field of audiology. These relationships have provided invaluable mentorship, diverse perspectives, and opportunities for continued growth. It has also strengthened my leadership and communication skills. Overall, volunteering has helped me become a more confident, well-rounded clinician. I would strongly encourage any audiologist considering involvement to take that step—it has broadened my perspective and offered far more learning opportunities than I initially expected.

What’s your favorite summertime tradition?

My favorite summertime tradition is spending quality time with family and friends. With my husband being a teacher and my two daughters being school-aged, I especially appreciate the slower pace of summer and the opportunity to recharge together. We always look forward to our annual summer vacation and the chance to unplug. These moments provide balance and renewed energy that positively carry over into my professional life.

If you could take a road trip anywhere, where would you go?

If I could take a road trip anywhere, I’d pick California’s Pacific Coast Highway. Between the ocean views and stops in places like San Francisco and Los Angeles, there’s so much to see and do. It’s the kind of trip where you can explore, try great food, and just take in some really incredible scenery.
