The Academy continues to collaborate with the Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA) and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) to advocate for and advance the bipartisan Medicare Audiologist Access and Services Act (H.R. 1587/S. 1731) this year.
Now is a critical time to build additional support for this bill by asking your Senator and member of Congress to co-sponsor.
As the top legislative priority for the Academy, this legislation would modernize how Medicare treats audiologists and audiology services by removing the current physician order requirement, appropriately classifying audiologists as “practitioners” rather than suppliers and allowing audiologists to be reimbursed for treatment services.
Act today to improve Medicare beneficiary access to audiology services by visiting the Academy’s Legislative Action Center.
