The Academy submitted comments to the Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on October 4, 2020, in response to the proposed rule for the CY21 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (PFS).
The comments highlighted several provisions that would adversely impact practicing audiologists and the Medicare beneficiaries they treat.
In particular, the Academy strongly urged CMS to waive the requirement to adjust Medicare payments for budget neutrality so as to avoid the proposed seven percent cut in reimbursement for audiology.
Among other things, the Academy also asked for some valuation adjustments to the new codes for Vestibular-Evoked Myogenic Potential Testing and Auditory-Evoked Potentials. A final rule will be out later this year.
