The Senate is expected to vote Thursday, June 25, on the Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution to overturn the Department of Education’s student loan rule. Effective July 1, 2026, this rule will exclude audiology from the list of recognized professional degree programs eligible for higher federal student loan borrowing limits, creating significant financial barriers for current and future AuD students.
The American Academy of Audiology urges members to contact their U.S. Senators today and ask them to vote YES on the CRA. Repealing this rule is a critical first step toward protecting access to graduate education for future audiologists and ensuring that students pursuing an AuD degree are treated equitably alongside other health care professions. Calls to Senate offices by Thursday morning are particularly important preceding the vote, as Senators and their staff are actively assessing constituent feedback before making final decisions.
