The Academy is launching the Advocacy Ambassador Program, a grassroots advocacy program to strengthen audiology’s voice nationwide. The program will debut at the AAA Annual Convention 2026 in San Antonio. Members attend four government relations sessions covering policy and advocacy skills to become official Ambassadors.
Why Grassroots Advocacy Matters
Audiologists face challenges, including licensure threats, reimbursement barriers, workforce shortages, and patient access issues. Federal advocacy is important, but state and local engagement is crucial. Policymakers respond best to constituents who live and work in their communities, and grassroots advocacy ensures audiologists have a seat at the table.
The Role of Ambassadors
Ambassadors are trained Academy members who will:
- Build relationships with legislators and state officials.
- Lead outreach and mobilize advocacy action.
- Represent the Academy at hearings, meetings, and events.
- Receive recognition and badges for their leadership.
This program connects the national organization with on-the-ground advocates who respond quickly to emerging policy issues.
Join the Movement
The Advocacy Ambassador Program empowers members to advocate for the profession and patients, ensuring audiology’s voice is heard at every level of government.
