Dona MP Jayakody, PhD, is the research lead for the Cognition and Hearing Loss Research program at Ear Science Institute Australia. She is also an adjunct research fellow at the University of Western Australia and holds the Career Advancement Fellowship from Royal Perth Hospital Research Foundation.
Dr. Jayakody is a director for the Australian Society for Medical Research and a STEM ambassador to Science Technology Australia. Her research focuses on identification of the causal association between hearing loss and dementia in Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australians, development of central auditory processing assessments that would help to identify those at risk of dementia, and investigation of the impact of hearing loss rehabilitation, using hearing aids and cochlear implants, on cognitive function of hearing-impaired Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal older adults.
