In a recent study published by Raveendran and Singh (2026), a number of ocular vestibular evoked myogenic potential (oVEMP) electrode montages were compared. This study specifically analyzed responses in a test group comprising of 30 adults with a diagnosis of auditory neuropathy and compared these results to a control group comprised of 30 adults without this diagnosis. A number of electrode montages were also compared, including belly-tendon, infra-orbital, chin-reference, and sternum reference. This study showed superior responses in the belly-tendon group; responses showed inter and intragroup superiority across peak-to-peak amplitudes and higher response rates. These authors concluded that the oVEMP belly-tendon montage was superior in both the control and test groups, and better helped identify pathological findings.
