Dr. Patricia Roush’s remarkable career spans over four decades, where she has played diverse roles as a pediatric audiologist, contributing extensively to clinical care, educating students, conducting clinical research, and serving children both in the United States and internationally.
Throughout her illustrious career, Dr. Roush has made commendable contributions to research, evidenced by numerous publications, presentations, and involvement in National Institutes of Health- funded research projects. One of her notable research contributions is to the Outcomes of Children with Hearing Loss study, shedding light on children with mild to severe hearing loss and aiding clinicians in making informed decisions. She has also been an influential figure in educating professionals on auditory neuropathy spectrum disorder (ANSD), sharing insights through publications, global presentations, and pioneering ANSD assessment and management guidelines.
Dr. Roush has held leadership roles at esteemed institutions like Henry Ford Hospital, Boston Children’s Hospital, and the University of North Carolina (UNC) Pediatric Audiology program. A passionate and engaging educator, Dr. Roush taught multiple courses, mentored students, and instilled her love for pediatric audiology in aspiring professionals. Her dedication to audiology is evident in her unwavering commitment, serving as a subject matter expert in hearing aid selection, cytomegalovirus, and managing children with unilateral hearing loss. Dr. Roush’s involvement in influential initiatives like the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)’s Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI)—Pediatric Audiology Links to Services (EHDI-PALS) task force and her role with the Hear the World Foundation reflect her commitment to serving the field.
Dr. Roush’s exceptional leadership has positively impacted countless children globally, numerous audiology and health professionals, providing invaluable guidance and elevating the standard of care in pediatric audiology worldwide.
