Audiologists have long recognized that certain viral diseases are known to cause hearing loss, including measles, rubella, chickenpox, and mumps. Public health efforts, especially widespread vaccination, have played a pivotal role in reducing the incidence and impact of these diseases, thus preventing countless cases of hearing loss, disability, mortality, and the long-term socioeconomic burden among children and their families.
