As we go to press, the Academy, along with the Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA) and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), is celebrating the recent reintroduction of legislation by Senators Warren (D), Grassley (R), and Paul (R) that would modernize how Medicare recognizes and reimburses audiology services. Virtually identical legislation, the Medicare Audiologist Access and Services Act, was introduced and garnered significant bipartisan support in the prior (117th) Congress. Provisions of this bill in the 117th Congress were included in the House version of the Build Back Better Act (a large legislative package) that narrowly missed the finish line in 2022.
