Description

The American Academy of Audiology Clinical Consensus Statement: Assessment of Vestibular Function in the Pediatric Population serves as a guide for assessing vestibular function in the pediatric population. The statement provides test considerations and interpretation of appropriate bedside assessment techniques, vestibular evoked myogenic potential, video head impulse, videonystagmography, rotary chair and various pediatric questionnaires for clinicians who encounter children of all ages in their vestibular practice and allows for expected variations in practice and available equipment. Working with pediatric patients often requires a multidisciplinary approach, with the audiologist playing a vital diagnostic and management role within the health-care team.

Key Points

The consensus statement provides a summary of vestibular testes based on age for clinicians to use as a key reference.
