Recently, we have learned that our logo has been used on company/organization websites and social media platforms without our permission, thus, implying an Academy endorsement of the product or services.
The Academy actively monitors the misuse of our logo and acts swiftly to rectify the situation as quickly as possible.
We consistently monitor and resolve the areas of concern and misuse of the Academy’s logo; however, we may not catch everything. As members of the audiology community, we encourage you to bring any red-flag or potentially concerning issues to our attention. Or, ask us to investigate further if you are unsure of the circumstances.
We learned about the most recent case on April 22, 2022, through our members belonging to a private Facebook group where the ad/information was posted. In this recent case of misuse, our logo has been placed on a drop-shop “hearing aid” store. We have reported the misuse to the Federal Trade Commission, the website domain holder, and sent letters of cease and desist to the company itself.
While the reaction time to make these circumstances right takes time and resources, we understand that the presence of the Academy’s logo on these websites can be misleading and confusing to our members, industry stakeholders, allied health professionals, and consumers. Be assured that we are working diligently to alleviate those concerns.
Of note: Members of the Academy may identify themselves as Fellow Members of the Academy and use the Fellow logo (scroll down to the bottom of the page), designed and designated for member use.
Thank you for your understanding and please contact us with any concerns.
