The 2020 American Academy of Audiology (the Academy) Member Connect Survey was sent to members in an e-mail blast and the survey link was posted to social media to invite responses from non-members. Online features have been published on survey data obtained on the following areas: demographic data,1 verification of amplification,2 and tele-audiology.3 This is the fourth article from the survey results and a final article will be published reporting inclusion/equity survey results.
This article reports the data obtained from Academy membership related to cochlear implant (CI) candidacy identification. The survey was designed to provide The Academy with information that will identify gaps in audiologists’ understanding of when to refer their patients for a CI evaluation and subsequently generate actionable next-steps that will aid in mitigating the identified barriers to these referrals.
