Utility of Rotary Chair Testing 

In a recent article, Advances in the Clinical Application of Rotational Chair Testing for the Diagnosis and Management of Vestibular Disorders (Ganggang et al., 2026), the clinical utility of rotary chair testing during vestibular assessment was stressed. Rotary chair testing gives objective data about functional vestibular reactivity in a frequency range missed by caloric and video head-impulse testing (vHIT). Although rotary chair testing may be less sensitive to unilateral lesions, it gives important data about the level of central vestibular compensation and the efficacy of intervention. It also helps in serial testing for progressive disorders (including vestibulotoxicity monitoring) and gives insight into central vestibular function.
