JAAA Update:
Call for 2025 Submissions

The American Academy of Audiology and the Journal of the American Academy of Audiology extend profound gratitude to all Academy members and JAAA authors, JAAA reviewers and journal readers for their patience and understanding as we work diligently to get submitted manuscripts through the publication process as quickly as possible.

We are very happy to report that all manuscripts accepted for publication in JAAA volume years 2023 and 2024 will be available online and in print issues by the end of December 2024 or sooner.

JAAA is now seeking manuscript submissions for the 2025 publication year. The new year marks the launch of a new publishing model that returns the Academy to the role of journal publisher.

Submissions for JAAA Volume 36.1 (January 2025) and beyond will be accepted via ScholarOne beginning September 15, 2024.

Starting with the 2025 volume year, all published manuscripts will include a statement of clinical relevance within each article abstract. In addition, the journal will offer four new article types: case studies with discussion questions, clinical review articles, brief reports, and articles on failed replications/null findings.

With the new publishing model, accepted articles will be copyedited and typeset before individual online publication, prior to compilation in an online issue. Beginning in 2025, JAAA issues (Volume 36.1 and beyond) will be published online only. The print edition of the journal will be discontinued in 2025.

The Academy will be hosting a new online portal for the journal on audiology.org via a link to Academy-members-only content. Institutions will have a direct link to journal content based on their internet protocol (IP) address.

In the coming months, the Academy will launch updated submission guidelines, announce a new Editorial Board and develop an Open Access publication option. The journal is focusing on improvement, enhanced efforts and the exciting opportunities ahead for journal authors, reviewers and readers.
