What is your background in audiology?
Like many of us, I learned about audiology while an undergrad at Saint Louis University. I found the science and technical components to be fascinating, and wanted to learn more. From there, I studied at the University of Colorado at Boulder for my AuD and PhD. I finished up my post-doctoral training at Mayo Clinic Florida, and was fortunate to move into a clinical faculty position at Mayo Clinic in Arizona. In this position, I have the ability to see patients, work with students, and conduct research. I have been the division chair of audiology since 2018.
Why do you volunteer with the Academy?
We have an obligation to our professional community to contribute however we can. Volunteering allows me to guide the profession in ways that matter for my practice and for the profession as a whole.
What is one thing that you can say volunteering has done for you and your personal success as an Audiologist?
Volunteering with the Academy has connected me with people outside of my typical sphere. These connections have helped me understand the profession as a whole and introduced me to absolutely wonderful colleagues across the country.
